Peikko delivers its DELTABEAM® Slim-Floor Structure and concrete connections to a major museum project in Riga, Latvia

Peikko Group’s Latvian subsidiary Peikko Latvia SIA has received substantial orders for over 2.1 kilometers of DELTABEAM® Composite Beams and a large amount of various kinds of connection items for the concrete constructions of a new museum collection centre in Riga, Latvia. The deliveries will take place in autumn 2016. The centre will be completed by 2018.

The new collection centre with a unique architectural shape will provide modern infrastructure for housing and handling the collections of National History Museum of Latvia, the Literature and Music Museum, and the foreign art collection and the Latvian art collection of the Latvian National Museum of Art. The facilities will be used for storing, recording, and restoring of the museum objects, as well as displaying of certain collections. The centre is developed by SJSC State Real Estate and the general contractor is RERE Grupa. The architectural design has been made by Bureau of architects KRASTS, and the structural design by KONSTRUKTORIKS. Consolis supplies the precast elements to the project. The total area of the centre comprises 30.330 m2

“We are very pleased that our DELTABEAM® Slim-Floor Structure was chosen to the frame of this remarkable museum collection centre. The benefits of DELTABEAM® are realized in this project in a great way – it offers wide open spaces enabling architectural freedom, space for technical installations, and it enables flexible layout changes during the entire life cycle of the building. We are also happy to state this is the single largest project in the history of Peikko Latvia”, states Topi Paananen, CEO of Peikko Group Corporation.

DELTABEAM® is Peikko’s composite slim-floor structure for multi-storey buildings of any kind. It allows flexibility in layout changes throughout the service life of the building, and enables easy HVAC installations. With the use of DELTABEAM® the depth of the entire structure can be reduced, which means savings in construction time and costs as well as in heating and cooling costs. DELTABEAM® enables different kinds of cantilevers and architecturally challenging façade solutions without the use of in-situ casting.
